On 10 October 2025, a public debate with mayoral candidates and heads of councillor lists in the municipality was held at the Cultural Center Kriva Palanka.
The main topic of the debate was the civic priorities previously identified through a broad consultative process, including: water supply; construction of a main sewage collector and a wastewater treatment plant; additional parking facilities; local public transport; construction of a chapel at the old cemetery; establishment of a nursing home, and others.
The candidates had the opportunity to state whether these priorities are included in their electoral programs for Kriva Palanka and to explain how they plan to implement them if they gain the trust of the citizens.
Attendees asked questions and put forward suggestions for improving the identified priorities, with the aim of encouraging local development and improving the quality of life in the community.
The public debate demonstrated that the civic voice is an essential part of shaping local policies and identifying the real needs of the population.
Although all mayoral candidates (two) and all five heads of councillor lists were invited, the debate featured presentations of plans related to civic priorities by the mayoral candidate from SDSM, Sashko Mitovski, and the heads of the SDSM and ZNAM councillor lists, Mile Trajkovski and Martin Dodevski.
The event was organized by RCS Spektar from Kriva Palanka, which is part of the Forum for Civil Dialog, within the framework of the project “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy at Local Level,” implemented by NGO Info-centre with the support of the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden.
