The Youth Cultural Center from Bitola, a member of the Forum for Civil Dialogue (FCD), organized a public forum with citizens and mayoral candidates in the municipality of Krushevo on October 15 in Krushevo.
Three of the four candidates were present at the forum, namely Zoran Janeski from the political party Levica, Tome Hristovski from the coalition for local elections 2025 led by SDSM and Niko Coneski from the coalition “Your Macedonia” led by VMRO-DPMNE, who presented their plans and promises for the development of Krushevo.
In the presence of 49 citizens of different age groups, the most important local issues were discussed: infrastructure and traffic, water supply and water management, local economic development, youth and youth policies, and improving conditions in schools. The discussion was substantive, and at times turned into a debate between the candidates about their presentations.
The candidates also had disagreements about the current situation in the municipality of Krushevo regarding the preparation phases, current and future implementation of certain projects related to the topics/priorities that were defined for the public forum. For example, such issues as the street network, the opening of the youth center, the approach to the development of the industrial zone (priorities of intervention), water losses in the water supply system, priority areas (settlements) in the region of Krushevo for improving conditions in schools (primary and secondary).
The candidates agreed that civic priorities should be included in the list of projects and interventions of the future mayor. All candidates present confirmed that if they become mayor of the Municipality of Krushevo, they will advocate for the implementation of these priorities and they will be part of their work.
The event is part of the project “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy at the Local Level”, implemented by the NGO Infocenter, in partnership with the Youth Cultural Center – Bitola, with support from the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden.
