NGO Info-centre continues implementing the project “Gender-Sensitive Journalism for Local Media Pluralism (REM)”, which aims to strengthen the capacities of local and regional media to report on issues of public interest through the lens of gender equality and a gender-sensitive approach.
From 15 to 17 September 2026, additional mentoring meetings were held with the five teams, each consisting of a female journalist and a civil society activist from different parts of North Macedonia. The meetings took place in Demir Kapija, Prilep, Shtip, Strumica and Kriva Palanka.
The mentoring sessions focused on the progress of the investigative stories, further developing and refining the investigative angles, identifying relevant sources and data, ethical aspects of reporting, and planning the next steps towards the production of the final journalistic content.
Some of the teams have already conducted interviews and field research, while others are working on further defining their approach, securing sources, and collecting data and documents from relevant institutions.
The mentoring support placed particular emphasis on source protection, information verification, access to institutional data, and the application of ethical standards, with special attention to reporting on issues related to gender-based violence.
By combining training, mentoring support and knowledge sharing, the project contributes to more inclusive, balanced and responsible journalism, while strengthening local media pluralism and increasing the visibility of diverse social perspectives and experiences in the media space..
