On December 20, 2024, Glasen Tekstilec organized the final debate within the framework of the project “Active Citizens for Participatory Democracy at the Local Level”. The event was held with the presence of citizens, representatives of local communities and important local institutions.
The debate was attended by representatives of local institutions, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Shtip, Atanas Krstovski, the Director of the Public Enterprise “Isar”, Aleksandar Arsovski, and the Director of the Public Enterprise “Stipion”, Pance Stefanovski.
The meeting discussed the progress and budgeting of the seven priority projects that citizens declared in 2022, and for which a Memorandum for the Implementation of Civic Priorities was signed between the Municipality of Shtip and Glasen Tekstilec.
With this Memorandum, concluded on 14.12.2022, the Municipality of Shtip commits itself to implementing the following civic priorities arising from direct consultations with citizens in the period 2023 – 2025:
– Solving the problem with the old water supply network and the pressure in the high zones.
– Better hygiene and waste management. Improving the work of the competent public enterprises. Recycling waste.
– Completion of the “Partizanska” boulevard from AMD to the Babi settlement.
– Construction of multi-storey garages and more parking spaces in the central city area.
– Construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
– Parks, playgrounds and uniforms for elementary school students.
– Improving municipal services to citizens.
– Formation of a local economic and social council.
The ongoing projects, deadlines for their completion and the problems highlighted by the representatives of urban communities facing challenges were discussed. Particular attention was paid to new priorities and projects to be implemented in 2025. The event was held as part of the “Civil Dialogue Forum” coalition, within the framework of the “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy at the Local Level” project of the NGO Info-center, supported by the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden.
