Debate of Youth and Local Self-Government: How to a Functional Local Youth Council in Mavrovo and Rostushe

Within the framework of the local initiative: “New opportunities for young people through an active and functional Local youth council in the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostuše”, a public event was held by ZEUKSTRITON on 30th November 2023, which was attended by young people and students from the secondary school SOU “Mavrovo Rostuše”, as well as representatives from the local government.

At the debate, titled “How to a functional Local Youth Council (LYC)” the participants were informed about the importance, benefits and opportunities arising from the formation of the LYC. The proposed solution for the establishment of the LYC according to the new Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies was presented and the procedure for the establishment of the LYC was explained in more detail.

The young participants had the opportunity to discuss with the representatives of the local government Omer Muratovski, councillor for youth in the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostushe and Rizafer Abazi, an associate for the sessions of the Council of the municipality, the possibilities of establishing a new LYC, to make suggestions, but also to express them youth problems and needs that should be heard by the institutions.

The event, held within the framework of the local initiative: “New opportunities for young people through an active and functional local youth council in the municipality of Mavrovo and Rostuše” by ZEUKSTRITON, is part of the project “Alliances for active citizenry” project of the NGO Info-centre, supported by the European Union.
