Persons with disabilities in the municipality of Kriva Palanka still do not have enough conditions and opportunities to exercise their civil and political rights, nor do they have enough opportunities to actively participate in public and political life in the local community. They are insufficiently involved in consultative processes and in the creation and implementation of local policies, there is not a single adviser, and they are almost not represented in the management and leadership structures of political parties.
At the same time, there are still prejudices against people with disabilities and their acceptance of the positions of mayor, councilor, deputy.
These are part of the results of the action “Inclusion of persons with disabilities in political and public life in the local community”, in which the Regional Cooperation Center SPECTAR conducted a survey, interviews and analysis of strategic and program documents in the Municipality of Kriva Palanka.
The action is implemented within the project “Alliances for active citizenship” of the NGO Infocenter, with financial support from the Europen Union.
