In the organization of IGI Gostivar and OW Strumica, and as part of the small action “Youth activism for feminism” which is implemented with the support of the project United for active citizenship, a final event was held in Gostivar on November 15, 2024, which was attended by twenty young people from Gostivar.
The findings of the survey conducted in the municipalities of Strumica and Gostivar were presented at the event. The anonymous survey included 200 young girls and boys aged 16 to 25 in both municipalities. The survey was conducted during September of this year, and the purpose of the survey was to determine the level of involvement of young people in local policies and whether municipalities equally take into account the different needs of girls and boys when creating programs and strategies.
The survey probed their attitudes and perceptions to determine the level of gender-inclusive practices in the development of local youth policies and to identify their different needs, interests and challenges for advancing the status and role of young people in local communities.
The results show that young people have clear attitudes and ideas for improving inclusiveness and gender equality. The survey conducted in the municipalities of Strumica and Gostivar reveals deep challenges in their participation in local youth policies, from non-involvement in decision-making processes to specific problems of boys and girls.
The activity was implemented with financial support from the European Union.
