At today’s public consultative meeting held at the City Museum, citizens of the Municipality of Kriva Palanka identified the key priorities that affect them most and represent the most urgent needs to be addressed in the local community.
The meeting is part of an initiative of the Forum for Civil Dialog—a network of civil society organizations that includes RCS Spektar from Kriva Palanka. Local priorities were selected within the following areas: public services, local economic development, participatory democracy and good governance, social support, culture, and sport.
“The aim of the initiative is to encourage citizen involvement and participation in the creation of local-level policies and services. The priorities were identified based on a series of prior consultative meetings with various target groups, such as young people, pensioners, the business sector, rural women, the unemployed, and citizens in general. The consolidated set of priority needs also incorporates proposals and issues identified through an online survey. These priorities will be presented to mayoral candidates and heads of councillor lists for the upcoming local elections at a public debate to be held on Friday, 10 October, in the cinema hall of the National Institution – Cultural Center Kriva Palanka, starting at 6:00 p.m.,” informed Metodi Cvetkovski from the Regional Cooperation Center “Spektar,” Kriva Palanka.
At the public debate, citizens will be able to hear whether their priorities are included in the programs of the candidates for the future local government, whether they plan to implement them, and how they would address them.
The consultative meeting was organized by RCS Spektar Kriva Palanka, with support from NGO Info-centre, within the framework of the project “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy at Local Level,” financed by the Olof Palme International Center and the Embassy of Sweden.
