Discussion with the representatives of the Kriva Municipality Council and citizens was organized by RCS Spektar on December 26, 2023. 24 participants concluded that communication between councillors and citizens should be even better and implementation of new mechanisms and tools for articulating the priorities and needs of the community should be developed.
The President of the Council Izabela Pavlovska, the coordinator of the advisory group of SDSM and the coalition Tanja Dejanovska and the deputy coordinator of the advisory group of VMRO-DPMNE Vlatko Ristovski emphasized that they are open to cooperation with citizens and civil sector and that civil proposals are always welcome. They explained the procedure for submitting initiatives from citizens to the council and their representation.
Participants agreed that the tools for online communication with citizens through the municipal website are good initiative, but that face-to-face meetings are much more productive and useful. The citizens asked for the possibility of more frequent meetings with the councillors where they can express their opinions, their problems and needs. According to them, face-to-face meetings are a great idea, but it’s still good to have other communication mechanisms.
The event is part of the project “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy on Local Level”, supported by the International Centre Olof Palme from Sweden.
