Kriva Palanka has several appropriately arranged spaces for cultural events, but there is a lack of alternative places where different forms of artistic expression and presentation will take place.
Small stages for chamber events and multimedia projects are mostly missing, and there are potentials to transform certain existing locations into new alternative spaces for cultural content, concluded the participants of the public debate, as well as the citizens who answered the online questionnaire.
Panellists at the debate were Nathalie Veleska, an architect, and Gjorgi Kostovski, an art historian.
The following were indicated as potential spaces for an alternative cultural scene: the hermitage of “St. Joakim Osogovski” in the village of Gradec, the Osogovski monastery, the unfinished hall at the “Macedonia” motel, the vestibule of the City Church “St. Dimitrij”, the bed of Kriva Reka, abandoned factory halls and other unused closed and open buildings.
The public debate was the last with an exhibition of photos of alternative spaces, concepts for re-designing the locations and a concert by the “Iguana Band”.
The event was organized by the Centre for Audio-visual Arts from Kriva Palanka, as part of the project “Alliances for Active Citizenry”, implemented by the NGO Infocenter, with the support of the European Union.
