Forum for Civic Dialogue: Debate on Citizens Priorities in Struga

On December 6, 2024, the Community Center of the Municipality of Struga organized a public debate, as part of the Civic Dialogue Forum coalition, within the framework of the project “Active Citizens and Participatory Democracy at the Local Level”, implemented by the NGO Info-center, supported by the Olof Palme International Center from Sweden

The meeting discussed the progress and budgeting of the priority projects that citizens declared in 2022:

• The problem with water supply and drinking water

– Continuous repair of defects, cleaning of canals, replacement of asbestos pipes.

– An agreement has not yet been reached with the villages that are not connected to the main water supply.

• The problem with stray dogs and their care

– An agreement has been concluded with a company for the capture and care of stray dogs.

– For the second year in a row, 600,000 denars have been allocated from the budget to solve this problem.

• Improving communication with citizens and their involvement

– New information is published daily on the municipality’s Facebook page.

– Electronic registration of all public events taking place in the municipality has begun.

The Community Center of the Municipality of Struga (member of the Civic Dialogue Forum) and the Municipality of Struga, on December 16, 2022, signed a Memorandum for the implementation of civic priorities for the period 2023 – 2025.
